I went on a short hike with my family to Bushy Hill, Simsbury, CT, and we saw a fox!
Ig Nobels
I got a ticket to The 2014 Ig® Nobel Prize Ceremony & Lectures through work, and I’m very glad I was able to go. The ceremony was hilarious and wonderfully un-boring. The first picture below is the paper airplanes I brought to throw at the stage (only at the sanctioned times, of course). Next is a picture I took of The Loo Lady, who I thought might enjoy the show. Finally, a photo by Jane Winans of me with two people who won the Arctic Science Prize for testing how reindeer react to seeing humans who are disguised as polar bears
. The tray is the Ig Nobel prize itself. The bag in my hand is a “Disposable Pooper Scooper Bag” from the Biology Prize winners, who won for carefully documenting that when dogs defecate and urinate, they prefer to align their body axis with Earth’s north-south geomagnetic field lines

Walking Around Somerville
Family Trip
Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve, New Hope, PA
Baldwin’s Book Barn, West Chester, PA
Longwood Gardens, Kennett Square, PA
Boxborough and Stow
I took some friends to see the double-triple-outhouse behind the old school house on Picnic St (Boxborough, MA) and go looking for cows. (We didn’t find the cows, but we did find wildflowers.) Then I wandered around Delaney Flood Control Site in Stow.
Minute Man Air Field
I had a good lunch at Nancy’s Air Field Cafe, then the owner of the Minute Man Air Field let me into the aerodrome so I could get pictures.
