A friend wanted to check out Savenor’s and have an interesting dinner. That sounded like a good idea to me. So we picked up some rattlesnake (on the left in the first picture), turtle (on the right), and more traditional ingredients for dinner. While the turtle stew was stewing, we had the rattlesnake as an appetizer. The flavor seemed very similar to frog and the texture felt somewhere in between chicken and string cheese. Then we had the turtle stew over pasta. The turtle tasted like generic red meat to me. Overall it was an interesting experience, but I didn’t think either meat was any more tasty than other options that are cheaper and more readily available.
