Ig Nobels

I got a ticket to The 2014 Ig® Nobel Prize Ceremony & Lectures through work, and I’m very glad I was able to go. The ceremony was hilarious and wonderfully un-boring. The first picture below is the paper airplanes I brought to throw at the stage (only at the sanctioned times, of course). Next is a picture I took of The Loo Lady, who I thought might enjoy the show. Finally, a photo by Jane Winans of me with two people who won the Arctic Science Prize for testing how reindeer react to seeing humans who are disguised as polar bears. The tray is the Ig Nobel prize itself. The bag in my hand is a “Disposable Pooper Scooper Bag” from the Biology Prize winners, who won for carefully documenting that when dogs defecate and urinate, they prefer to align their body axis with Earth’s north-south geomagnetic field lines.
